SIDECAR BICI - BYCYCLE SIDECAR
(english version on bottom)
This story finds its roots in three different events: during my past period in London, I bought a Raleigh roadstar bicycle before WWII; I read the book “The sidecar; a history”, where there is a chapter dealing with bicycle sidecars; recently I became grandfather of my lovely grand-doughter Adele. This three events, connected together, suggested me to build a sidecar for my two bicycles. After the necessary researches in internet, eventually I took the inspiration from a 1935 British model, I defined the drawings and I started my works.
The model built by an English enthusiast helped me to build a wooden sidecar, that came out to be enough efficient and useful. Confiding also on my previous experience gained in building the sidecar body for my Triumph SD, I made the wooden mudguard and the body, that I paint in the classic Parma Violet color. I succeeded also to position the frame on the right side, solving the various problems due to the chain presence.
The necessity to realize a new ecologic world, based on an increased respect of the fossil energy sources, gives a new life to the bicycle sidecars; in such context my multirole sidecar is constantly employed as passenger, dog, kayak, sea clams rake and masquerades carrier.
